2008 has brought a maelstrom of changes to the Detroit film and commercial markets as Michigan’s economic incentives have Hollywood lining up. With over $50 million promised in production compensation in 2008 alone, Michigan has become the hotspot in the country.
In response, The I GROUP has taken a bold initiative, and created a group of over 86 theatrically exclusive SAG & AFTRA talent. This group, which represents the areas best, brightest, and promising talent in Film and TV, has at once revolutionized and streamlined the Detroit market.
Michigan’s talent market is non-exclusive, meaning that talent are signed with multiple agencies. Until now, this has never presented a problem, but as production companies move in the expectations go up. Also, non-exclusivity brings confusion as casting directors in Michigan often receive multiple submissions of the same actor for the same role.
The I GROUP is leading the way by signing Michigan’s Best to be exclusive talent for Hollywood’s projects, smoothing the transition for those coming from beyond our borders.
We have also added 4 new members to our Exclusives. This group is exclusive for all SAG/AFTRA projects. The new members are Tiren Jhames, Jennifer Kincer, Sarah Habel and Teri Clark-Linden. We are proud to include these 4 wonderful actors into our exclusive family, bringing the number of Exclusives at The I GROUP to 18 members.
