FREE SELF-DEFENSE COURSE



Lindsey Tycholiz The i GROUP, is pleased to announce it’s 2nd Women’s Self Defense Awareness Month with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office for the month of October. As part of this initiative, they will be collaborating with the Martial Science Center and the Miss MICHIGAN USA Organization to present free women’s self defense courses.



Preview:Sheriff Bouchard

The program officially launched on October 7th, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. when Oakland County Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard, Women’s Self Defense Awareness Month Spokeswoman Mikayla Bouchard, along with the Miss MICHIGAN USA 2011 winners, hosted a public and media preview event at the Athletic Republic in Auburn Hills, MI. The preview, which was open to everyone included information about Women’s Self Defense Awareness Month and demonstrated the key self-defense techniques that women will learn in the class.


Why:

Women’s Self Defense Awareness Month is a program that aims to instill females with the confidence and technical self-defense skills to protect themselves when presented with harmful situations.


Who:Rima Fikah

Open to all women ages 18 and up and for teens, ages 14 to 17 with adult supervision.


Classes:

Each course is a one-day, 6½ hour program. Classes will run on Saturdays in October (10/9, 10/17, 10/23 & 10/30) from 10:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and are subject to availability so sign-up as soon as possible to secure your spot. Complimentary lunch provided by The HoneyBaked Ham Co.

Attire:

Females wishing to attend a class should wear comfortable, athletic clothing and closed-toe tennis shoes. Sandals are not permitted.
